Ames, do you think too much is made out of the urn and the "ashes". Essentially, it's a 5 match Test series that you should be important but why all the hooha about something made up just to create a rivalry or something to play for.

Surely an Aus Eng series doesn't need that?

If I get to see Ricky kissing anything that resembles ashes, I'm all for it. To be honest, the Ashes thing has been around for so long that it's hard to imagine the sporting rivalry between the two countries not being a huge deal.

Nooo, I agree with the spoting rivalry...it has a historical significance. What I'm saying is does it need the urn and ashes this ashes that, "my first words were ashes"..."ever since I was a kid I wanted to play in the ashes"

Haha, I see your point. It'd probably be more of an unspoken dream of kids who think to themselves "It'd be so cool to play in the Ashes". More that than the standard response they give reporters that they've always dreamed of winning the Ashes for their country, etc.

Why has Symonds got a poster of you hung up behind him in the changing rooms? (Ricky's right)

Do you think the rivalry between India and Pak is bigger?

Probably, in a different sort of way. It's more in-your-face and crazy as opposed to holding a precious ashes urn and celebrating to an audience of less than a billion people.

We make do with what we can.
