No obvious weakness in Phil Hughes

I said so, I really did. Whether it's entirely true remains to be seen, but by god, it seems to be true. Says Warnie:
"No doubt England's coaches will be looking at footage of Hughes's test matches against South Africa, as well as studying his performances for Middlesex. I could save them the trouble and say that there are no obvious weaknesses for them to find. Most important of all, he seems to be as mentally tough as they come."

He also thinks that England will attack us with spin. How ominous:
"Now that Graeme Swann has established himself in the team and Monty Panesar is
waiting in the wings, I think there's a real possibility that England will take on Australia with two spinners in their side."

Well, if England were smart, that's what they'd do.

They are not smart. England will never play two spinners. Its against their nature and up bringing.

Except that Monty is in fact a bowling machine.

Because Monty is the best spinner in the world, no doubt about it. I fail to see how anyone could think otherwise when batsmen treat him with disdain.

Alright, so maybe having Monty on for any other team would be like having one and a half decent spinners, but against Australia, Monty is Spin God. He might have lost his mojo, but the Aussies will hand it back to him on a dinner plate.

Come on Amy, even the Aussies can't make him look good. How about showing some faith in them now that you're going to support them in the Ashes?

But I've always supported them in the Ashes, and I've always had faith in them. You can't blame a fan for being disillusioned after their atrocious form against spin bowling lately. Even Slats is worried and asking Ponting about it.

It's dark times for Australians, not knowing whether we have the aptitude for playing spin and wondering when we stopped being able to.

Aussies second-guessing themselves? That's what Poms do. The world isn't big enough for two English teams Amy!

Tell that to the folks organising the spin summit.

If they wanted to be really adventurous, they could throw in Rashid to play the 2nd spinners role.

Damith is right, though, they probably won't. Try suggesting on an English messageboard that England should play 2 spinners and see what response you get.

After all, this isn't 1956 you know...

See, I just love it when you Poms go out of your way to help us win the series. Very gracious hosts, I must say.

Having said that, England will now come out and declare they're keeping two spinners in a radical move backed by Flower. Nothing seems to be going my way these days.
